Tasmania! Summer! Thought the words couldn’t co-exist? Think again. The temperatures are warming up (admittedly, only to an average somewhere around the high 20s) and Tasmanian limbs are coming out to play. Make like a heatwave and sizzle in these summer fashion pieces.

WORK

  1. McTavish Tee A classic laid-back button-up, made from 100% cotton. Worn done up over a plain tee, this shirt is a good summer work staple.

  2. Carhartt WIP Pant The Simple Pant has a work-inspired fit with a relaxed, straight leg and reinforced stitching at vital stress points for durability. They are perfect for both everyday use and more dressy occasions.

  3. Birkenstock Shoe Birkenstocks are known for their comfort and versatility. The Lutry style featured here can be worn as a backstrap style or as an open clog, thanks to the flexible ankle strap (as well as with or without socks in Summer).

  4. The North Face Bag The Berkeley Field Bag is made from lightweight recycled nylon with a water-repellent finish to keep your belongings dry, no matter the weather. It features a roll-top compartment so its carrying capacity can vary from essentials to a laptop and your lunch.

  5. Jungles Jungles Cap A five-panel cotton canvas hat from Melbourne-based label Jungles Jungles, this cap plays on weather jargon with its 'fine without you' embroidery.

  6. Alma Supply Store Socks Tie-dyed ribbed construction crew socks available from Hobart’s Alma Supply Store.

Weekend

  1. Online Ceramics Tee Clothing from beloved label Online Ceramics features amusing, thought-provoking mottos and whimsical graphics. This tee is made from 100% cotton, with front and back printed graphics that communicate an environmental message.

  2. Rhythm Tee A long sleeved T-Shirt is an important summer staple for effortless layering on cooler (or temperamental) Tassie days. It is also a must-pack when travelling to the beach in order to warm up after your swim.

  3. Gramicci Short Made from hardwearing organic cotton twill, these shorts from climbing label Gramicci are made to be comfortable, versatile, and long-lasting. They have an elasticised waist with integrated belt, and a decent number of spacious pockets.

  4. Birkenstock Shoe Birkenstocks are so good, we’ve featured them twice. A worthy investment, these provide an elevated take on the archetypal hiking sandal, with a chunky sole made to drain water quickly and provide traction in the outdoors (if you are, in fact, hiking in them).

  5. Jungles Jungles Hat This wide-brimmed hat is made from a textured seersucker cotton fabric, and has an adjustable drawcord. The ideal accessory for long beach days or bushwalks, offering both style and protection.

  6. Shade At Motion Hat This hat (while reminiscent of primary school days) provides essential sun protection while surfing in Tassie. It's lightweight and fits securely in place with an adjustable neck strap and clip.

  7. McTavish Board Short These swimmers are made from lightweight recycled nylon, so they are quick-drying. Handy for those occassions when walk shorts need to become swim shorts!

Night Out

  1. KLOKE Tee A long-sleeved summer staple in soft, 100% organic cotton. This simple, versatile style is available in a range of neutral tones, and is ideal for a night out or cool weather alternative.

  2. Online Ceramics Hoodie Summer in Tasmania isn't always blue skies and an even temperature - you might need a cosy hoodie on a night out. This one features ribbed cuffs and hem, front pouch pocket and a printed graphic that will make others smile.

  3. Incu Collection Pants These classic black cotton pants are cut to a wide leg with a mid-rise fit, so they are stylish and versatile without being overly formal.

  4. Assembly Label Socks These cotton socks are available in a range of colours. They have a rib finish, and are the perfect crew length to match any shoe.

  5. Keen Shoe Popular outdoor footwear brand Keen has collaborated with Gramicci to revamp their original climbing-inspired sneaker. The result is a pair of shoes that is stylish enough for cruising around town, as well as comfortable, due to a lightweight sole and contoured fit. Keen is also known for its commitment to ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices, and regularly publishes impact reports.
